Here is a look at a few of the petitions available. There was the Vesna to host Big Brother 2012 Facebook page last year. Obviously, Sonia will host but Vesna would still like to be involved, that page says. A search in Facebook for host Big Brother 2012 reveals ones for Hamish and Andy, Chrissie Swan and others. Maybe they would make good co-hosts now that the main hosting role is no longer up for grabs?

Late last year, a survey about the beautiful Natalie Garonzi popped up. It is designed to gauge how popular she could be as a potential co-host of Big Brother Australia 2012. There were some fans of Big Brother who this week misunderstood that this survey is about trying to promote Natalie as a potential co-host rather than the main host. They made negative comments, that it is about trying to steal Sonia’s job, when it was mentioned in the official Big Brother Australia Facebook page. It was even mentioned that it is specifically for a co-hosting role and has nothing to do with the main hosting role – there is a difference, of course.

It was once speculated in 2008 that she might be involved in Big Brother after series eight but then the show was axed. Now might be a good time for her to apply for any potential co-hosting that may become available. Fans can back her up a bit, too, and so far the survey’s statistics seem to support her.

I contacted someone connected to the survey and obtained a range of statistics. Here is one of them below (click for larger image). It shows that 71% of respondents earlier in the week believe that Natalie deserves a role on Big Brother. It will be interesting to see what the figures look like once many more people have answered the survey.

According to online newspaper web site reports, she wants career longevity and sees Big Brother as the way to achieve that. I am not so sure but we will see. She will be bagged for her age and personality and so on because the public can be so cruel She will be totally different to former host Gretel Killeen who is busy with her writing and directing work.

And the negativity continues quite a lot over at the unofficial Big Brother Australia 2012 FB page with 507 comments currently on this news story. It is not looking good but audiences might just warm to Sonia yet and time will tell.

Although only a very basic Facebook page at this stage it has some photos. One album shows photos of the BB House and what a poor state it has been left in since Big Brother took a break in 2008. The garden and grounds around the pool are full of weeds and the interior has been gutted with cables hanging from the ceiling.

Apart from that there is only Wall posts to see on the page. Some of these are amusing while others are criticisms from people stoopid enough to click “Like” and then bag the show. I like the comment post by Natali who said:

“to dear, official big brother australia. i believe you need some wogs in the house hence why, my friend and i will be applying ”

Bring on the “Chk, Chk, Boom” gal I say, too!

One critic of the show posted:

“FUCK YOU ALLL I HATE THIS SHIIIITTT”

She had to first click “Like” so she was bagged rightly for that because why would you like a page you’re bagging? But on the flip side there are comments like:

“I heard Bannas in pymas is the best option for those who don’t support Big brother, because those that winch and cry about it being back on T.V are 5 year old’s. Go watch your cartoons instead of crying about it.”

I suggested in another post’s comment reply that people who do not like BB should go and watch Parliament Question Time because that’s just soooo mature and all

Apart from the pros and cons debates (well, only a few) and the regular “How do I audition?” question despite the fact that they are not calling for auditionees yet, the other interesting discussion to look at is the occasional opinion about who should host Big Brother 2012. Some would like to see Gorgeous Gretel return while others would like to see Hamish and Andy hosting the show. Others would like to see my favourite, Vesna, hosting (there is even a FB page: Vesna to host Big Brother 2012).

Having set up a Facebook page within less than a week of the news of Big Brother’s return, and modifying the home page with the news at Big Brother Chaos (aka BB Chaos), the unofficial fan site (photo of below) came alive again with hundreds more unique visitors each day. The chat area started buzzing with discussion and I started thinking about what to do with the web site and all the domains owned by the site that bear the Big Brother Australia name.

This web site you are now reading, bigbrotherau.com is my current project. Its purpose is to promote the BigBrotherChaos.com web site in general as well as the forum and new blog to come. It will also link to the Facebook pages that exist and a few web sites. So sit back and watch it all develop if you like in the coming months.

The official web site had this above just recently before changing to point to Southern Star. Two Facebook pages sprang up then and Hughesy mentioned the show’s return on The 7pm Project (about 3 or 4 days after word got out). A handful of news articles were online by this time.

I set up a Facebook page for Big Brother Chaos at facebook.com/BigBrotherChaos. This is what it looked like over the weekend.

Within a half a day later the Official Big Brother Australia Facebook page was available. It was just a basic one saying that auditions were not being announced yet. It had 10,000 “Likes” by the end of the day. At the time of writing this it has just under 18,000.

So that is a bit of background leading up to the events surrounding the word getting out. Big Brother Australia will return on the Nine Network in 2012 and will be called Big Brother: Secrets. More about that will follow soon.
